On Thursday, the Blue Shield of California Foundation announced $7.7 million in grants for the third quarter, the San Francisco Business Times reports.

Fifteen not-for-profit organizations in California will receive grants, and two organizations on the East Coast also won awards.

According to the foundation, about $2.7 million in grants will go to help shore up California's health care safety net and advance health care reform efforts, while $4 million will go to health care information technology efforts. Efforts to reduce domestic violence in California will receive about $1 million.

The Business Times highlighted grants to Bay Area organizations (Rauber, San Francisco Business Times, 8/21).
