The Week Ahead

Monday

The Department of Managed Health Care will convene a hearing in Los Angeles to discuss insurers' cancellation of individual health insurance policies. DMHC has issued at least two fines to insurers for improper cancellations of individual health insurance policies. Several lawsuits seeking class action status also have been filed.

Tuesday

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is due to receive a report on whether it should ban trans fats from restaurants in the county. The Los Angeles City Council is evaluating a similar proposal.

Wednesday

A subcommittee of the Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine will meet to consider the process for replacing Zach Hall as president of the stem cell institute. Hall in December announced that he would leave CIRM within six months.
