Guidelines on Food Marketing Practices To Be Scaled Back
During a House committee hearing on Wednesday, federal officials said the government is scaling back its proposed restrictions on food packaging and store displays of children's food products. Among other changes, companies would be permitted to market food products considered less healthy at fundraising and sporting events. Federal agencies issued the voluntary guidelines in April as part of a broader effort to reduce childhood obesity. It is not clear when the guidelines will be finalized.
