Survey Finds Medicaid Costs Rising Despite Cost Controls

Although revenues are returning to pre-recession levels, many states still are struggling with growing Medicaid costs, according to a new survey by the National Governors Association and the National Association of State Budget Officers. NGA Executive Director Dan Crippen said states have tried to curb Medicaid costs through several measures -- such as cutting provider payments and reducing prescription drug benefits -- but none of the efforts have been successful.
