Many Large Insurers Opting Out of Insurance Exchanges

Many large and popular health insurers -- such as Aetna, Cigna and UnitedHealth -- are choosing not to participate in the Affordable Care Act's insurance exchanges because of concerns that enrollees will have costly pre-existing conditions or chronic illnesses. In the absence of big insurers, smaller local insurers are expected to enter the marketplaces and offer comparatively lower rates.
