Officials: Dry Conditions Across Calif. Can Exacerbate Respiratory Problems, Lead to Serious Health Issues


California providers are reporting that they are treating a higher number of patients with respiratory and allergy problems amid near-record dry conditions across the state. Health officials say exposure to fine particles that are trapped near the ground because of the dry conditions also can lead to heart disease, asthma and cancer.

The other important thing is the risk of contracting Valley Fever from the dry soil and dust that is occurring with the high winds that we are experiencing. I live in Kern County and am wearing face masks if I need to be outdoors in this stuff. It is probably the only disease that truly frightens me.
