Three States Expand Nurse Practitioners’ Scope of Practice
Connecticut, Nebraska and New York all are considering or have considered legislation that would allow nurse practitioners to practice and make treatment decisions without physician supervision -- authority that NPs in many other states already have. Non-physician health providers across the nation are seeking to expand their roles amid growing concern over a looming shortage of primary care physicians and other specialists.
