Four Calif. Medical Research Institute Officials Are Among Top Paid
Officials at four California medical research institutes are among the highest paid in the country, Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News reports.
The publication used annual tax forms to determine the 20 highest-paid current or former senior executives of independent not-for-profit research organizations. The tax data were made public by GuideStar and the Foundation Center.
The rankings are based on total compensation for the two most recent years that such data were available.
The four California medical institute officials who were ranked in the top 20 include:
- Richard Lerner, president and CEO of the La Jolla-based Scripps Research Institute, who ranked second;
- William Brody, president of the La-Jolla based Salk Institute for Biological Studies, who ranked seventh;
- R. Sanders Williams, president of the San Francisco-based J. David Gladstone Institutes, who ranked 11th; and
- Mitchell Kronenberg, president and chief scientific officer of the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, who ranked 17th (Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News, 7/21).
