California Association of Health Plans
The California Association of Health Plans has named Charles Bacchi as its new president and CEO, effective at the end of this year when current CEO Patrick Johnson retires.
Bacchi has served as CAHP's vice president of government relations, as well as the group's executive vice president (Glover, Sacramento Bee, 6/6).
California Department of Managed Health Care
On June 11, Gov. Jerry Brown (D) appointed Gabriel Ravel (D) to the state Department of Managed Health Care.
The position does not require Senate confirmation, and compensation is $120,000 (Office of the Governor release, 6/11).
California HealthCare Foundation
The California HealthCare Foundation has announced that Marc Jones and Bradley Gilbert were elected to its board of directors. CHCF publishes California Healthline.
Jones currently serves as chair and CEO of Aeris Communications. Gilbert serves as CEO of Inland Empire Health Plan (CHCF release, 7/1).
CalPERS Board of Administration
On May 29, Brown appointed Dana Hollinger to the CalPERS Board of Administration.
The position does not require Senate confirmation, and compensation is $100 per diem (Office of the Governor release, 5/29).
California State Council on Developmental Disabilities
On June 16, Brown appointed Aaron Carruthers (D) to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities.
The position does not require Senate confirmation, and compensation is $111,900 (Office of the Governor release, 6/16).
Dignity Health
Dignity Health has named Laurie Harting as its senior vice president of operations for the Sacramento region beginning July 14.
Harting currently serves as the senior vice president of operations for the company's Southern California western service area (Robertson, Sacramento Business Journal, 6/24).
McKesson
Lori Schetcher will immediately take over as general counsel, chief compliance officer and executive vice president of San Francisco-based health IT and pharmaceutical distribution company McKesson.
Schetcher formerly served as the company's associate general counsel (Rauber, "Bay Area BizTalk," San Francisco Business Times, 6/23).
Palomar Health
On June 3, Palomar Health announced that President and CEO Michael Covert will leave the organization in August. Covert announced his resignation to Palomar's board of directors on May 30. He had an income of $700,858 in 2012, making him one of California's highest-paid public employees (Sisson, U-T San Diego, 6/3).
Current CFO Robert Hemker will take over the CEO position beginning Aug. 15 (Sisson, U-T San Diego, 6/27).
Kaiser Permanente
On June 19, Kaiser Permanente announced that Odette Bolano will take over as its East Bay area manager and senior vice president on July 21.
Bolan currently works at St. Joseph Health System in Texas (Rauber, "Bay Area BizTalk," San Francisco Business Times, 6/19).
