Sanders Stumps for Single-Payer Health Care System
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, said "the time has come" for a "single-payer, national health care program" and that he would introduce a bill to establish such a system "in the very near future." Sanders said a single-payer health care system would be cost-effective and would allow Medicare to negotiate with drugmakers, which currently is prohibited.
