I don't think this article expressed what is really going on here. There a number of counties that Kaiser doesn't have medi-Cal contracts in BUT currently does have Healthy Families contracts. Kaiser and other providers have been concerned because now those kids will not be able to stay with their Kaiser providers when they are changed to Medi-Cal. That is what is bothering the Kaiser organization, not money. The legislators and state officials think there is this plethora of Medi-Cal providers just waiting to care for Medi-Cal patients - but that is a brutal myth.
