Health 2.0 Conference Focuses on Patient-Centered Technology To Promote Wellness

During last week's Health 2.0 Conference in San Francisco, technology developers showcased new gadgets designed to help consumers play a bigger role in their health care.

The new tools include smartphone applications, body sensors and games that challenge users to practice healthy habits.

In a California Healthline Special Report by Deirdre Kennedy, experts discussed how patient-centered technology could improve health care delivery as health insurers and other payers start to emphasize preventive care.

Tools to help people think about their individual health by "gaming" may help many to be more informed. However, the major driver, in my opinion, is to get people motivated to ask more questions of their providers.
